Research focus:
Surface processes on Ice sheets and glaciers
Max is an assistant research scientist at the Earth System Science Interdisciplinary Center at the University of Maryland and am a member of the Cryospheric Sciences Laboratory at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. For my research, I use a combination of in situ and remote sensing data along with numerical models to study surface processes occurring on ice sheets and glaciers. This work helps us quantify ice sheet and glacier mass changes. I am the lead developer of the Community Firn Model, and open-source numerical process model to simulate processes in snow and firn. I received my PhD in 2018 from the University of Washington Department of Earth and Space Sciences. From 2020 to 2024 I was a research scientist for the USGS Benchmark Glaciers Project.
