Introduction

The purpose of this web page is to provide easy and direct access to a large number of validation results concerning the global OSCAR data product, which cannot be compiled into a single journal article. For now, it includes comparisons between OSCAR and the data from the World Wide Drifter Buoy Deployment, and between OSCAR and the TAO/TRITON/PIRATA mooring data. A reminder of the datasets used to estimate the OSCAR surface currents is here presented. Then follow a description of the method for validating the OSCAR data and the portal to the comparison results. Users already familiar with the validation method may directly go to the portal.
