Fabrice Bonjean obtained his Ph.D in Physical Oceanography in 1998 from the University of Pierre et Marie Curie, Paris, France. He accomplished his research work for his thesis at the LOCEAN laboratory (formerly LODYC). He  joined Earth and Space Research for a postdoc position in June 1999, and was a research associate at ESR until 2008. He notably was principal investigator of the Ocean Surface Current Analyses Real-time (OSCAR) project funded by NOAA and NASA. He is currently employed as a research scientist at the SAT-OCEAN company in Versailles (France) where he develops applications and services for marine activities.
