Appendix: definitions and terminology
- ~10-day map: 10 days is approximately the time length during which the TOPEX/POSEIDON and JASON-1 altimetry satellites complete an entire cycle of revolutions around the Earth. Hence their full picture of the Earth surface, including the oceans, is built in minimum 10 days. The other satellites which remote-sensing data are also used for OSCAR complete their cycle in a shorter time.
- SKILL:
- CASE 1 (graphics, coefficients): Absolute drifter velocity vs. Absolute OSCAR velocity - CASE 2: Absolute drifter velocity vs. Mean seasonal OSCAR velocity - CASE 3: Absolute drifter velocity vs. Mean OSCAR velocity See there for details. |
